Achievements

Nitish Thiyagarajan, Lee Kuan Yew Award Winner 2024
poly level awards 2024

Nitish Thiyagarajan, a graduate from the Diploma in Information Technology, received the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Award during the Graduation Ceremony held on Thursday, 2 May 2024. This Award is presented to the top technology or computer science graduates from each of the polytechnics and has been presented since 1993 Temasek Polytechnic graduation ceremony.

Nitish’s journey into the world of technology began early and he first learnt coding through YouTube tutorials. During his time at TP, Nitish developed "Transito," a user-friendly bus timing app that focusses on speed and customisation.

Nitish’s penchant for creativity includes developing a word counter that eliminates citations, a GPA calculator infused with humour and a browser extension that integrates artificial intelligence to refine formal emails. He consistently finds inventive solutions to everyday matters.

As a leader of the Information Technology Student Interest Group, Nitish led the creation of a resource website for freshmen, demonstrating his leadership and teamwork skills. He ensured the project's functionality across platforms and guided its development effectively. His internship at GovTech enhanced his abilities with real-world projects. Outside of digital pursuits, Nitish dedicates his time to social causes and volunteers to repair laptops for low-income beneficiaries.
