When my grandparents passed away, I learnt that Chinese Buddhist funeral rites aren't simply rituals—they bring comfort and closure to the deceased and their family. Unfortunately, most of us only get to learn and understand that when we're forced to, which is in a moment of loss, as talking about death in Chinese culture is seen as inauspicious and scary. But do we have to lose a loved one to learn and honour our tradition?

NIRVANA is an emotional and educational experience mimicking a Chinese Buddhist funeral rite. It allows people to experience the funeral process and learn about the significance of each custom.

Chinese Buddhist funeral customs have not only brought my family together but also provided us with comfort and closure. Through this project, I hope to share this knowledge and experience with others so we can honour our culture and keep these meaningful traditions alive.
