In Singapore, period education starts at Primary 5 (around age 11), but many girls begin as early as 8. When parents also struggle to explain menstruation at home, girls are left confused and unprepared. Dear Period is an illustrated book designed for girls aged 8-10 to learn about periods in a fun and approachable way. Through interactive storytelling, it answers common questions and reassures young readers that periods are normal. Alongside the book, engaging tools and resources help parents navigate the conversation. Dear Period empowers young girls with knowledge and confidence, making their first period a positive experience.

Hello, I’m Jia Qian! I’ve always loved art. Daydreaming too, NGL, where I can create entire worlds and characters. But in design, especially illustration and storytelling, I can bring these characters to life, make their worlds real, and then share them with others, letting them step into the worlds I created. And when I can use what I love to solve a real problem, it gives me a real sense of purpose. That’s what makes design so fulfilling for me.
