The Takeoff

The Takeoff is a mixed martial arts (MMA) training centre that breathes new life into Seletar's historic airport through adaptive reuse. Inspired by MMA's chaotic yet controlled nature, the project aims to create a spatial rhythm that mirrors the sport's quick-paced flow, with a holistic approach to athletic development. Raw, authentic materials evoke a sense of grounding and strength, echoing the intensity of the training environment. The Takeoff reimagines the legacy of the terminal, transforming it into a symbol of endurance, recovery, and resilience for both athletes and the building itself.
