Ever wondered how the ingredients in our daily products such as cosmetics, food or pharmaceuticals are identified and quantified in laboratories? Are you curious about what goes on in the laboratories to produce quality and credible testing reports for our everyday products? You will learn modern laboratory analytical techniques such as chromatography and mass spectrometry, laboratory management standards such as ISO/IEC 17025, and statistical methods to enhance your data reports.

Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for modular units which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.

Modes of Assessment

 

●      Assignments (Theory/Project/Practical) – assess student’s understanding of key concepts covered in lectures, their ability to solve the application questions and their ability to apply concepts to questions on in various topics.

●      Tests/Quizzes – measure students’ understanding of key concepts and application of concepts learnt for each topic.

●      Class participation – assess student’s attitudes towards learning in terms of active participation in discussions.

 

 

Certification

 

Upon successful completion of the modular unit, students will be awarded a Statement of Result which can count towards the attainment of the Specialist Diploma in Laboratory Management and Instrumentation
