Course Overview

The aims of this subject are to provide students with:

 

  1. Basic data entry and preparation skills using electronic worksheet applications that can use to perform calculations, create charts, analyse data, locate data, find trends in data, and present the data in a meaningful manner. 
  2. Advanced electronic worksheet techniques and skills to streamline the data collection and preparation stage of the analytical process to deliver faster and more accurate data analysis results.
  3. Skill to use the electronic worksheet features and tools to identify suspicious or invalid cases, variables, and data values.

 

The subject provides an introduction to advanced spreadsheet techniques that streamline the data collection and preparation stage of the analytical process to deliver faster and more accurate data analysis results.  With software application, the techniques learned from the subject can be used to identify suspicious or invalid cases, variables and data values.

Entry Requirements

Applicants applying for modular units which are drawn from existing full diploma or post-diploma programmes will have the same minimum entry requirements as the full qualifications.

What You'll Learn

  1. Demonstrate the use of fundamental features in preparing a spreadsheet.
  2. Construct a useful worksheet in preparation for data collection and analysis.
  3. Apply spreadsheet built-in formulae and functions to create an automated spreadsheet.
  4. Apply spreadsheet to clean data, create tables, and plot charts.
  5. Analyse data using advanced spreadsheet techniques.

  • Continual Assessment 100 %

 

 

Certification

 

Upon successful completion of the modular unit, students will be awarded a Statement of Result which can count towards the attainment of the Diploma in Engineering (Operations & Systems Management).
