Course Overview
This course is co-taught by Trainers from Temasek Polytechnic and Health Catalyst Inc., a company that provides data, analytics technology and services to healthcare organizations. The course is conducted via in-person as well as online components and presents an overview of the fundamentals of statistics and data analytics skills, and information processing tools in data management. The application of statistics and analytics in healthcare operations will be covered and elaborated through facilitated sessions and practical examples. Finally, the contextualisation of the learnt concepts with the translation to better health care and wellness outcomes will be discussed.
1. Understand statistics and data analytics and apply these in data management

Assessment
Formative assessment that includes in-class group assignment/discussion/presentation
Certification
Participants who meet at least 75% of the required course attendance will be awarded the Certificate of Attendance.

Mr Goh Miah Kiat
Temasek Polytechnic Trainer
Miah Kiat has been teaching in Temasek Polytechnic for more than 13 years. He holds an M.Sc. in Statistics from the National University of Singapore and an M.Ed. in Educational Studies from the University of Sheffield. He has experience teaching both Clinical Microbiology and Statistics to students in applied science.
Mr De Silva Justin
Temasek Polytechnic Trainer
Justin is a registered pharmacist with the Singapore Pharmacy Council, with 15 years of vast experience in regulatory and consultancy support, pharmacy practice and adult training in the various healthcare sectors. A lecturer in the Diploma of Pharmaceutical Science, Justin also provides ad hoc training and consultancy support for regulatory and quality assurance based on PIC/S Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Distribution Practices.
Ms Desiree Winters
Health Catalyst Trainer
Desiree is currently the Product Owner of Health Catalyst’s Analytics and Improvement Literacy Programs for analysts and healthcare leaders. She has been on the Health Catalyst team for 5 years, designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating programs in outcomes improvement and data analytics in healthcare. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biophysics from Brigham Young University and a master’s in Instructional Psychology and Technology.
