Day 1 (8 Hours)
3D Modelling using CAD/3D Software
Introduction to 3D Modelling
Understand the basics of 3D printing technology and various types of 3D printers available in market.
3D Modelling using CAD Software
This is a hands-on session where participants will learn to apply different features of a model to create a CAD data file to be used to print a solid 3D object. The following are some of the main features used.
Extrusion
Cuts
Rounds
Chamfer
Pattern
Assembly
3D file conversion for printing.
Import and export of different reference files and visualisation in the CAD software environment. Convert files from raw CAD model format to a printable format. Optimise the model for 3D printing.
Individual Project (Part 1)
Participants will design their own 3D model using CAD software and optimise the 3D model.
Day 2 (8 Hours)
3D Printing Using Open Source Data
Introduction to 3D printing
Understand the basics of 3D printing technology and various types of 3D printers available in market.
3D Printer Working Mechanism.
Understand the working principles and the mechatronics (mechanical and electronics) behind a 3D printer followed by a real-life demonstration.
3D Model Conversion and Slicing using software.
Apply the CAD modelling functions to slice data files for 3D printing.
Individual Project (Part 2)
Participants will prepare their own 3D model in printable format, convert the raw file to STL, slice the files before finally printing the 3D object
Certificate
Participants who meet at least 75% of the required course attendance and attempt the assessment will be awarded the Certificate of Performance.
