Course Overview

This immersive, interactive, and practical program aims to provide participants with the skills to understand and address various sustainability challenges through hands-on activities and workshops. Participants will gain insights into environmental stewardship, resource management, and sustainable practices, equipping them with practical knowledge to implement sustainability initiatives within their organisations.

The course aimed to empower participants to drive positive change and contribute to a more sustainable future. This program will provide a platform to understand sustainability-related issues, develop plans for staff upgrading and reskilling, and embark on Proof of Concept (PoC) projects and applied projects aimed at promoting sustainability within their organisations. Through collaboration with various centres of excellence, participants will gain practical knowledge and insights into implementing sustainable practices.

Who Should Attend

Sustainability Managers/Coordinators, Facilities Managers: Professionals, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Managers, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Manager, Operations Managers, Engineers and Technicians, Project Managers, Educators and Trainers.

What You'll Learn

Session 1:

Participants will embark on a discovery learning journey to gain insight into the approach to the use of innovative application of technologies, processes and methods.

This includes site visits to selected centres (subject to confirmation) with capabilities in sustainability domains such as:

Integrative Built Environment Centre (IBEC)
Clean Energy Research Centre (CERC) & Electric Vehicle Lab
Centre for Urban Sustainability (CUS)
Centre for Aquaculture & Veterinary Science (CAVS)
Centre for Research & Opportunities in Plant Science (CROPS)

Session 2:

Trainee will participate in a series of taster programs delivered in the form of hands-on workshops (subject to confirmation) to deepen participants' understanding of different areas of sustainability such as:

Energy & Battery Management
Sustainable Design
Carbon Footprint & Reporting
Food & Environmental Sustainability

From the experiential Learning Journey and series of Workshops, Temasek Polytechnic and its Industry Partners aim to collaborate with participants' organizations in understanding the sustainability-related issues and develop plans for staff upgrading and reskilling, as well as to work on Proof of Concept (PoC) Projects and Applied Projects.

Certification

Participants who meet at least 75% of the required course attendance and attempt the assessment will be awarded the Certificate of Performance.

Lecturer/Trainer Profile

Mr Patrick Phang
Temasek Polytechnic

Patrick holds a BSc. in Project & Facilities Management from the National University of Singapore and an MSc in Project Management from the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore. He is a certified Green Mark Accredited Professional (FM) under the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC). Patrick has experience in sustainability projects, and facilities management and is currently a Course Chair of the Diploma in Integrated Facility Management (IFM) at Temasek Polytechnic.

Ms Marie Tan
Temasek Polytechnic

Marie holds a BSc in Facilities & Events Management from the Singapore University of Social Sciences. With over 19 years of experience in facilities management both locally and overseas, she specialises in sustainability concepts, carbon profiling and fostering energy efficient measures. Currently, Marie serves as a Senior Lecturer at Temasek Polytechnic, where she shares her expertise with students through the Sustainability Facility Management module.

Dr Miao Huang
Temasek Polytechnic

Miao Huang has a PhD in Microbial Genomics and Genetics with more than 17 years of research experience in the area of applied microbiology. She has experience in food waste composting, as well as bioreactor setups and operations. She also works closely with industry partners to contribute towards food waste upcycling efforts. Miao Huang is currently the Centre Head of the Centre for Urban Sustainability in the School of Applied Science.

Ms Loh Win Nie
Temasek Polytechnic

Win Nie is currently the Acting Head, Centre of Applied Nutrition Services (CANS) in Temasek Polytechnic. She has strong background of nutrition and dietetics knowledge with more than 10 years of working experience in clinical setting specialising in diabetes care, weight management, geriatric and renal nutrition as well as community outreach. Win Nie strongly believes that a healthier lifestyle can help manage and prevent chronic diseases. Hence, her role as an educator will help to inspire a wide range of individuals to make positive changes in their eating habits and overall health. Win Nie is also the current Vice-President for Singapore Nutrition & Dietetics Association (SNDA).
