Course Overview

This is a blended course, covering 98 hours of e-learning and 12 hours of facilitated face-to-face sessions. It introduces the basics of aquaculture, general concepts of fish diseases, disease management and vaccination, broodstock management, water management as well as the practical operational aspects of an aquaculture farm. Learners will have a good understanding of the industry and the key skills and knowledge in aquaculture.

What You'll Learn

 

This course introduces, in bite size, the basics of aquaculture for interest or career exploration. Learners will have a good understanding of the industry and the key skills and knowledge in aquaculture.

 

This course introduces the general concepts of fish diseases, and explain the effects of various pathogens, followed by disease management and vaccination. It also introduces basic breeding techniques and broodstock management.

 

This course takes participants through the practical and operational aspects in a fish farm, and reiterates the important concepts in farm management.

Certification

 

Participants who meet at least 75% of the required course attendance and pass the assessment will be awarded an e-Certificate of Completion.

 

Recognition towards Specialist Diploma in Aquaculture Management & Technology (SDAMT)

 

Upon successful course completion, you can proceed to apply for the SDAMT and be granted 1 PDC exemption.  This means that you can complete the Specialist Diploma in just 1 Semester.  This allows you to gain the Specialist Diploma Certificate while learning to better optimise aquaculture operations through responsible practices.
