As a seasoned legal professional with over 20 years of experience, I have established a distinguished career in the legal industry. My expertise spans across practising as a litigation lawyer in various esteemed law firms and serving as a legal counsel for a global bank. Throughout my career, I have successfully conducted numerous trials and hearings before the Singapore Courts, and have provided comprehensive legal advice on a wide range of local, regional, and international matters.

The pervasive reach of technology makes it impossible to ignore and imprudent not to embrace. Fortunately, technology has always been a personal interest of mine. I initially studied computer science for three months in junior college before switching to a different faculty.

Given this background, deciding to take up this course was easy, as I aimed to reacquaint myself with technology on a deeper and more contemporary level.

Coming from a vastly different industry, the learning curve was steep initially. Technological concepts and terminology, even basic ones, were not immediately clear to me. Additionally, having left school over 20 years ago, I had to adapt to relying on laptops and online tools for all aspects of the coursework.

In my view, an even more valuable take-away from the course is that it has equipped me with the skill of knowing where to go, if I wanted to find out more about areas of further interest (at work or personally), eg. AWS resources for cloud computing. As the saying goes, "Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime".

Different people would have different motivations and objectives in deciding to take up a course. Whatever that may be, it is important to have a genuine interest in learning and to be clear on what you intend to achieve. With this attitude, the course would provide an enriching experience, as it is well-structured and tailored to busy working individuals, eg. if work commitments force you to miss a lesson, or you would like to read ahead, you can conveniently access the course materials online.

As a dedicated mother of three teenagers with a passion for cooking and family time, I have balanced my personal and professional life with over 13 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Marrying and starting a family at a young age, I have always prioritized my family's needs. Despite not having a diploma initially, I was determined to achieve this goal, leading me to pursue this course.

The most challenging aspect has been juggling work, family, and studies simultaneously. However, I am fortunate to have a supportive network of family, colleagues, and friends who consistently encourage me.

My interest in this course has made the learning process engaging. My healthcare background has provided some familiarity, but the course content has been universally enriching and has significantly benefited my new role at work. As our population ages, the skills I have acquired will be invaluable in eldercare, an area I am particularly passionate about.

Taking the first step to enroll and complete this course was crucial. The initial step is often the hardest, but once taken, success follows. It's never too late to study or pursue your goals. With careful planning, you can always find time to achieve what you desire.

I am currently employed at Panasonic, a sales company specializing in cold chain equipment, including freezer showcases, beverage coolers, and condensing units for 6 years now. Initially, I joined as a Logistics Assistant and have since been promoted to Logistics Executive.

Lacking prior knowledge and experience in the logistics industry, I decided to enrol in the Diploma in Business Practice (Logistics Management) programme. Recognizing the value of senior colleagues' guidance, I also saw the importance of acquiring skills independently. This course will allow me to deepen my understanding and enhance my professional capabilities.

The course begins with fundamental logistics operations, making prior knowledge non-essential but beneficial. My work experience has deepened my understanding of specific modules, particularly those related to handling shipping documents and trade terms—areas directly aligned with my daily responsibilities.

The skills and knowledge I’ve acquired will significantly enhance my career prospects and employability. Acquiring new skills opens up opportunities for career progression, including promotions and more critical tasks within the company. A diverse skill set also makes me more marketable to potential employers, allowing me to adapt to various roles and industries. My experience at Temasek Polytechnic has been fruitful, providing not only career-enhancing skills and knowledge but also personal development benefits.

Enrolling in part-time studies can lead to significant career and personal development. If I can achieve this, so can you!
