Course Overview
This course aims to equip participants with knowledge and skills in:
- Applying the latest robotics and automation technology to cleaning and waste management
- Identifying opportunities for automating environmental services at facilities
- Safe and cost-effective operation and maintenance of robots, cobots and automation systems
- Recommending customization and enhancement of automation equipment to meet the needs of the environmental services sector
Robots, Cobots and Automated Systems
Explain the various types of cleaning robots, differentiate between robotics and cobotics and when the latter would be more effective in environmental services.
Automated System Operations
Demonstrate the use of automated systems commonly deployed in commercial buildings and F&B establishments. Students will be trained to operate various cleaning robots and receive instruction in the components, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting.
Industry applications
Analyse how and when cleaning robots and automated systems, such as the automated tray return system (ATRS) in food courts and janitorial cobots, can be deployed cost-effectively.
Living Laboratory
Immerse in Temasek Polytechnic’s living laboratory and gain hands-on experience of how various automated and monitoring systems are utilized in campus estate management.
