Course Overview

If you are a newly appointed senior officer in the auxiliary police force or a security officer, this course will be very useful in providing a general introduction of the relevant provisions under the Criminal Procedure Code and its latest amendments on enhancing the fairness of existing criminal procedures. This course will equip you with the knowledge and skills required to perform your job more effectively.

 

This course is mandated by Police Licensing and Regulatory Department (PLRD) under the Auxiliary Police General Directives (APGD).

Who Should Attend

Newly appointed senior officer in the auxiliary police force or a security officer.

What You'll Learn

Topic 1 – General Introduction to Criminal Procedure Understanding the role and significance of criminal procedure and its basic terms in the criminal process.

 

Topic 2 – Criminal Courts in Singapore Explain the structure of the Courts, parties to a criminal proceeding, hearing criminal jurisdiction of the Courts, including sentencing powers of the Courts.

 

Topic 3 – Investigation Procedures Describe the powers of the Police, other law enforcement agencies and the Courts in relation to arrest, search, bail and recording of statements.

 

 

Certification

 

Participants who meet at least 75% of the required course attendance and attempt the assessment will be awarded the Certificate of Performance.
